Paris Olympic Committee Will Consider Esports for the 2024 Games

Paris Considers eSports for 2024 Olympic Games

Esports at the olympics in 2024 ?

The Paris Olympics 2024 program will be finalised after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, so the committee will have years to consider the question and take note of the reception to these showcase competitions. Fans of video games can rejoice: the question will be finally considered by the worldwide olympic Committee. "It's not about Olympics, '" Tony Estanguet, co-president of the bid board, told the AP.

International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach addressed the matter saying "We are not yet 100 percent clear whether eSports is really a sport with regard to physical activity and what it needs to be considered a sport".

Liverpool Issue Statement On Philippe Coutinho
Liverpool have issued a warning to Barcelona that their star player Philippe Coutinho is not for sale this summer transfer window. Klopp said: "I can't keep players happy - I can't keep you happy!" Maybe Watford will think we don't have that mindset.

Back in April The Olympic Council of Asia already announced that it would be adding 4 eSports events to the 2022 Asian Games, Dota 2, StarCraft II, Hearthstone and a yet to be revealed sports game (possibly Federation Internationale de Football Association or NBA). Estanguet told the Associated Press that talks have been scheduled with the International Olympic Committee and with esports representatives "to better understand what the process is and why it is such a success".

"I don't want to say "no" from the beginning", Estanguet said. The OCA will have to figure out a deal first with Blizzard, Riot, and Valve as well as well as other developers who would be interested in having their game featured in the 2022 Asian games.

North Korea spat rattles Wall Street
Trader reaction to company earnings also contributed to the slide on Wall Street, which had been trading in record territory. Wall Street's fear gauge - the CBOE Volatility Index or the VIX - surged 44%, its second-biggest one-day jump of the year.

Introducing eSports would nearly certainly help make the Olympics more relevant to younger generations-a tick in Estanguet's pro column.

eSports might not be considered as a real sport yet, but one can't deny the amount of revenue it generates from all its tournaments, not to mention the massive fan-base it has already built.
