Toledo-Lucas County Health Department officials said that cases of the virus linked to food eaten at the restaurant has climbed to almost 400 while 27 people fell ill by coming in contact with those who who ate there (secondary infections). The store remained closed on Thursday as county health inspectors proceeded with the investigation.
Health department officials became aware of the norovirus outbreak when local hospitals notified them about a number of people who became ill after eating Mama C's food from August 4 through August 7.
A year ago in OH, there were 76 norovirus outbreaks which sickened at least 3,031 people, according to the state health department.
Anyone who ate anything from Mama C's Donuts & Coffee in recent days and developed symptoms of norovirus is asked to contact the health department at 419-213-4264 or 419-213-4161.

The Ohio Department of Health is providing the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department with assistance as needed, state health department spokesman said, including testing submitted samples. She said, "We feel sorry about it".
Owners of the restaurant, Dar and Yann Chao, said they are working with the health department to determine the cause of the outbreak.
However, people who had the virus can spread it up to two weeks after the symptoms go away.
