Tottenham Hotspur have had a bid rejected for Manchester United forward Anthony Martial according to reports in France.

The 21-year-old, who lit up the Premier League during his first season in English football, scoring 17 goals and earning a plethora of rave reviews along the way, made just 25 Premier League appearances, last season, with Mourinho using the French global in a more rotational manner than his predecessor Louis Van Gaal did. Spurs are yet to make a signing this summer, and have now reportedly received a setback in their pursuit of the French forward.

RMC Sport, who first broke the news of Martial's shock move to Manchester United two years ago, claim that Tottenham have had seen their bid for the youngster rejected by United. Per Bouhafsi, Italian side Inter also made an unsuccessful offer.

Nevertheless, the Portugese appears to regard the 2015 summer signing as a key member of his squad ahead of the team's Premier League opener against West Ham on Sunday.

India vs SL, 3rd Test: KL Rahul & Shikhar Dhawan lead charge
This young team has been chasing leather this whole series - India scored 600, 240/3 and 622/9 in three innings in Galle and SSC. Dhawan made a 123-ball 119, including 17 boundaries, and shared a 188-run first-wicket stand with Lokesh Rahul (85).

Monaco had been minded to sell at the earlier price, but lost other players and became determined not to lose Martial to Tottenham or anyone else, and that's why it took such a huge effort from Manchester United late in August.

The offer for Martial comes as Tottenham look to secure up to three signings before August's transfer deadline in just three weeks.
