Wozniacki routinely dispatched resurgent American Sloane Stephens, 6-2, 6-3, to book her spot on the Rogers Cup final in Toronto. She won this tournament in 2010 in Montreal.

Wozniacki's road to the semi-finals included a victory over world number one Karolina Pliskova.

Things got a bit complicated in the second set for the Dane, with Stephens turning around a 1-3 deficit to level the match.

Defending champion Simona Halep will face Elina Svitolina in Saturday's other semifinal, both players having come through delayed last-eight ties earlier in the day.

Svitolina lost the first set against Wimbledon champion Garbine Muguruza before the rain arrived on Friday night, and the fifth seed fought back on Saturday to win 4-6 6-4 6-3.
