Central Intelligence Agency chief: No indication of imminent nuclear war with N. Korea

CIA Director Mike Pompeo appeared on "Fox News Sunday" to discuss North Korean nuclear development, which he said is proceeding at an "ever-alarming rate".

White House officials have insisted the investigation was not created to apply additional pressure on China as it relates to North Korea despite the president's previous remarks that he would be more amenable on trade if China stopped Pyongyang's nuclear program.

He added: "The reaction in North Korea that we are intending to get is an understanding that America is no longer going to have the strategic patience that it's had that has permitted him to continue to develop his weapons programme".

"This administration has made our policy very clear".

USA intelligence does not indicate an imminent nuclear war with North Korea, the chief of the Central Intelligence Agency said Sunday, after a week of bellicose rhetoric between the two sides.

North Korea warned foreign diplomats to leave Pyongyang in 2013 when it suspended work at a joint inter-Korean industrial park and threatened missile strikes on U.S. Pacific bases, notably in Guam and Hawaii.

North Korea's military has reacted angrily by stating its preparedness to "contain" the USA bases on the Pacific island of Guam with missile strikes.

They have already done two in July, has also advanced Mike Pompeo, in reference to the two test-firing of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) carried out by the regime in July.

Trump's "Fire and Fury" Wouldn't Be the First for North Korea
North Korea has been flexing its military might in recent weeks and months with missile tests to the chagrin of the US. Trump has also insisted that "nobody loves a peaceful solution better than President Trump".

He said he doesn't think the U.S.is closer to war than a week ago, but closer to war than a decade ago.

He said the United States has a "pretty good idea" of North Korea's intentions, but he declined to provide specifics.

The spokesman was responding to a question about North Korea threatening to fire missiles towards Guam and US President Donald Trump's dire warnings against North Korea, AFP reported.

National security adviser H.R. McMaster said Trump has asked for a report on what could happen next in the country.

"The United States military is always locked and loaded", he said.
