Arenado exited Sunday's game against the Marlins after being hit by a pitch on his left hand during the fifth inning, Jenny Cavnar of AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain reports. That ties him with Gary Sheffield for the most home runs in a season in Marlins history.
The solo homer in the third inning was the 250th of Stanton's career. He has 21 homers in his past 33 games and is now five homers ahead of his previous career high of 37, which he reached in 2014.
"There's a lot happening at once", Stanton said. After bounding away from the plate in obvious pain, Arenado left the game.
Harper-less Nats lose doubleheader opener to Giants 4-2
Bochy was set to give catcher Buster Posey a rare day off Friday and said he would keep him out of the lineup Saturday. On Saturday, he consistently shut down Cubs threats while scattering five hits in 6 2/3 scoreless innings.
Arenado, a four-time Gold Glove victor and a three-time All-Star, said he was told by team doctors that a stint on the disabled list is not likely. The star third baseman had his hand/wrist area examined by trainers and was subsequently lifted from the game. "It got real tight". That was my concern - how tight it was getting. "Luckily it's not broken, but it hurts a little bit".
Colorado starter German Marquez (9-5) took the loss, allowing five runs in 4 1/3 innings. Vance Worley was in for the first four innings and gave up eight hits for Miami including the Rockies' three runs. He is bidding to lead the NL in RBIs for a third consecutive year. Marlins RF Giancarlo Stanton leads the majors with 19 go-ahead homers, which is also a franchise record.
Stanton has homered in each of his last four games. "Definitely good company to be in. But it's a cool thing to have under my belt, and I have time to get more".

Rockies: Manager Bud Black returned to the dugout after missing one game because of illness.
Miami opened the scoring with two runs in the second. The rough weekend is nothing new for the Rockies in Miami, where their record is 35-64.
Black said when Arenado was first hit, he was anxious it could be serious. "It's a great comeback for a guy who is a tremendous human being". The Marlins on Monday open a three-game series against the visiting San Francisco Giants.
