10 police officers were injured by violent protesters including a broken jaw during the riots which started when protesters surrounded a bus of St. Louis officers armed in riot gear.
Protesters shouted slogans such as "black lives matter" and "it is our duty to fight for our freedom" as they marched. The protests grew as night fell, culminating in roughly a thousand demonstrators surrounding Mayor Lyda Krewson's home.
In some cases, mace, tear gas and pepper balls were used to disburse crowds, including at a St. Louis public library and several locations around downtown St. Louis. "Tear gas was deployed after officers were assaulted with bricks and bottles".

More updates to come, if necessary. While court documents show that Stockley was recorded saying that he was going to kill Smith during a high-speed chase in December 2011, that evidence wasn't enough to get a charge to stick.
The court documents said the officer then approached Smith's window and fired five times into the vehicle, hitting the man with each shot and killing him. Prosecutors also alleged that Stockley planted in Smith's auto a gun that was found to have his DNA on it but not Smith's.
The earlier incidents in Missouri were followed by police shootings and protests in a number of American cities, among them Baltimore, Maryland; Charlotte, North Carolina; St. Paul, Minnesota; and Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Prosecutors argued that Stockley planted a gun inside Smith's vehicle after shooting him five times but the judge said there was no proof.
Smith's mother, Annie, said the judge gave the wrong verdict.
Stockley, 36, told St. Louis Post-Dispatch he knew everyone wanted someone to blame, but he's just not the guy.
If the St. Louis, Missouri police force is trying to prove that they are not a group that's prone to unnecessary violence, they're doing a awful job.
