After a highly competitive opening half, the Mystics led by one point in their attempt to stave off elimination in Game 3 of their WNBA semifinals against the Minnesota Lynx.

Elena Delle Donne scored 15 points to lead the Mystics, who exit the playoffs after reaching the semifinals for the first time since 2002.

Washington chipped away at the Minnesota lead through the rest of the quarter and narrowed the deficit to two points at the beginning of the fourth quarter when guard Tierra Ruffin-Pratt hit a 16-foot jumper with 9:13 remaining in regulation.

Minnesota and Los Angeles were the cream of the crop in the WNBA during the regular season, as they were the only two teams to suffer single-digit losses. "We've got to have balance".

The Lynx got 21 points and five assists from Maya Moore.

Prior to that, she stepped out in the same Meshki dress in black for the Variety Power of Young Hollywood Event last month. Ariel walked the carpet with her boyfriend Levi Meaden , who looked smart in a pretty standard black suit.

"They challenged us in many ways that whoever comes out of the other series, Phoenix or LA, will challenge us in the same way", Augustus said. "Once we were able to clean that up, I had my moments, [Lindsay] Whalen had her moments, Maya [Moore] had her moments, then Sylvia [Fowles] kind of finished it up in the paint, in the post". Fowles pulled down five rebounds.

"What the Mystics brought to this series, just crashing the boards and making it hard all three games, it was something different, it just wasn't one player doing it".

"We just look at, when is the moment we can break a team", Fowles said.

The Minnesota Lynx eliminated the Washington Mystics Sunday and punched their ticket to the 2017 WNBA Finals. "They were a great team, they're going to go on runs, if you can't respond to those runs, that's when you get into trouble". Still, the veteran players know what's at stake and will use this experience to push themselves further next season. "Sylvia is going to be on the inside, we're going to defend our tails off and hopefully be able to rebound".

"I wish I could tell you the answer to that one", Brondello said. "You've got to love that about this group".

Peppers, Panthers' defense stymies Bills 9-3
The Panthers had to settle for a 20-yard Graham Gano field goal, and Buffalo took the field with a chance to win the game. Backup Tyler Larsen , a second-year player out of Utah State, made his sixth career start in his place. "It's tough.

"When you're matched up against a team like Minnesota, that's the kind of team that sets the bar", Toliver said. So I think we learned a lot. They will face Minnesota in a rematch of last year's championship, after the Lynx completed a sweep of Washington earlier Sunday.

Los Angeles is looking to become the first team to repeat as champions since they did so back in 2001-02, with Lisa Leslie winning both Finals MVP awards.

The Mercury's 30-21 lead in the second quarter disappeared with a pair of Parker steals, two free throws and a nifty assist to Sims for a layup, and Los Angeles took its largest lead of the half, 43-35, on Alana Beard's jumper 36.3 seconds before halftime.

The Mercury's Brittney Griner missed a shot as time expired and the Sparks celebrated with shouts and embraces in front of their bench.
