President Buhari Seeks Senate's Approval for CBN Nominees

President Muhammadu Buhari wrote to the Senate on Thursday, Ocotber 11, asking the upper legislative chamber to confirm Aishah Ahmad as deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Premium Times reports.

Ahmad's nomination as deputy governor of the apex bank had been announced by the presidency on Thursday, October 5.

The statement also adds that Mrs Ahmad is expected to resume immediately her appointment is confirmed by the Senate, replacing a CBN governor who retired earlier this year.

The President who has forwarded her name to the Senate called for speedy completion of the confirmation process.
