As the accountability court began hearing the corruption cases against the Sharif family, a group of lawyers entered the courtroom protesting police high-handedness against them.

The judges of accountability court on Friday adjourned the hearing of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) references against ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif's daughter Maryam Nawaz and hsi son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar after lawyers' clash with security officers in judicial complex. It had also ordered NAB to initiate the process of declaring Mr Sharif's sons - Hassan and Hussain - proclaimed offenders, for consistently skipping court proceedings in the graft references pertaining to the Park Lane flats and the establishment of offshore companies.

"Mian sahib is busy looking after his wife, Begum Kulsoom, in London".

She said because Mr Sharif had addressed a gathering of PML-N's workers in NA-120 at Alhamra before leaving for London, a separate meeting was not required.

"I don't know who created the problems for the lawyers". After the rejection of petition, it is highly likely that Sharif, Maryam and Safdar would be indicted tomorrow during the hearing, unless the court delays it.

Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif did not appear in the court today as he is now in London, along with his sons, tending to his ailing wife who is undergoing treatment for lymphoma.

The anti-graft body NAB had frozen the bank accounts and seized properties of Sharif and his family members to put pressure on them to appear before the court.

The references were filed in the backdrop of Supreme Court's July 28 decision in the Panama Papers case in which Nawaz Sharif was also disqualified for concealing his employment with Capital FZE, a firm owned by his younger son Hassan.

On October 3, Sharif was re-elected as president of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
