In a startling revelation, Honeypreet Insan, the closest aide of jailed Dera Sacha Sauda sect chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has told Haryana Police that the self-styled god wanted to flee India immediately after being convicted but the plan fell through, reports said on Friday.

Honeypreet, whose real name is Priyanka Taneja, was arrested by the Haryana Police on October 3 in connection with the deadly violence that had claimed 35 lives.

On Friday, Honeypreet and Kaur were presented before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Rohit Watts under tight security arrangements, after the completion of nine-day police remand. The Panchkula court was informed by the police that a mobile phone was recovered from Honeypreet Insan who was arrested last week.

The jailed men were among the 575 Boko Haram suspects arraigned under the first phase of the mass trial of the suspects. Following the conclusion of the day's proceedings, the court adjourned the trial of other suspects to January 2018.

According to the police, Honeypreet's laptop can contain deployment plan, guide maps and details of financial transactions as she was handling Dera's finances.

Honeypreet reportedly stayed in and around Sri Gursar Modia, the dera in Rajasthan's Ganganagar district for 17 days, police officials have said.

Meanwhile, the police has also slapped sedition case against Rakesh Kumar Arora, Private Secretary of Honeypreet Insan and her accomplice Sukhdeep Kaur.

The woman - who has been claiming to be Ram Rahim's "adopted daughter" - starred as the lead heroine in five films he directed, produced and acted in over a period of three years. His conviction led to violence in Panchkula and Sirsa in Haryana, leaving 38 people dead and another 264 injured.
