Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday reiterated his government's position that the map of the state will not be allowed to be distorted at any cost and that the territorial integrity of the state will be protected.
Some NSCN (IM) leaders have on record stated that the framework agreement signed previous year accepted integration of all Naga-inhabited areas. There is no need for the genuine citizens to worry, he assured. "Certain forces are trying to create confusion and fear psychosis among the people", the Chief Minister said at a meeting in Charaideo district.

Sonowal's statement came in the wake of some groups of the state expressing apprehension that a sizeable portion of Assam's territory adjoining Nagaland would be included in Nagaland once the Centre finalises the terms of the Framework Agreement that it had signed with the NSCN (IM) on August 3, 2015.
While contents of the Framework Agreement have not yet been made public, several groups, including the Congress and Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti, allege that the BJP-led government at the Centre and in Assam had agreed to NSCN (IM)'s demand for inclusion of a sizeable part of Assam's territory in "Greater Nagalim".

Sonowal said education is the guiding force for a society and as such the state government has introduced Gunotsav for quality education by which public representatives and government officers have been involved to evaluate. He also said that for the development of skilled human resources, the state government would set up skill development centres in every village of the state.
