Leonid meteor shower is an annual phenomenon and appear originate in the constellation Leo. Sometimes the shooting stars have an array of colours. November 17 and 18 would be the best time to watch the event, which will prevail throughout the month. Awarded gold tier designation by the International Dark Sky Association, it is officially the best place in England for people to go to enjoy the heavens. The meteor shower will be visible to the naked eye. But you'll need to be patient and alert with your eyes on the skies at all times.
Nasa recommends viewing the Leonids away from the radiant point to help the meteor streaks appear longer. The Leonid shower is one of the six important meteor showers which could be viewed this year.

Director Saran Poshyachinda said the Leonid meteor shower will be visible over the sky in all parts of the country starting from midnight on Friday until dawn.
"This year, however, visibility will be excellent because the new moon will take place on November 18, providing a ideal view of the meteors, which will not be washed out by any lunar light", the space website wrote.

The Leonids are produced by the dust and debris left behind by comet 55P/Tempel-Tuttle.
Discovered in 1865, Tempel-Tuttle is 2.24 miles across and orbits the Sun every 33 years.
