Marquise Goodwin credited his wife, Morgan, and their faith in God for getting him through the 49ers' game Sunday, only hours after the couple lost their son due to pregnancy complications.
Early Sunday morning, after his son died at 3:52 a.m., Goodwin was anguished and torn. At all. I really didn't even practice that week, I was just going through a lot. "So we can maybe help people who've dealt with similar things that we have gone through or learn things from people who've been through our situation".
"We didn't realize that sharing our journey with this baby would gain this many people (who support us)", Goodwin said via Eric Branch of The San Francisco Chronicle.
Marquise Goodwin and his wife, Morgan, are back home in Texas surrounded by family and friends after experiencing the tragic loss of their unborn child early Sunday morning. "I asked her if she would like me to stay with her and she insisted that I go play in the game because she felt like my team needed me".
The 49ers are on their bye week after notching their first win of the season, 31-21, over the Giants. The NFL wide receiver caught a stunning 83-yard touchdown pass and then sank to his knees in the end zone.
Morgan's post read, "This whole week has taken an emotional toll on my husband and I, Struggling to keep our healthy baby safe in my womb".Читайте также: A must buy stock list of the day: Henry Schein, Inc. (HSIC)
"[Morgan] encouraged me, raised my spirits, helped me get ready". However, God had other plans for us. "I'm grateful that I was able to play in the game and get a touchdown".
In the midst of the highlight-reel touchdown catch and crushing block, Goodwin could also be seen kneeling over an injured Giant in prayer. Praying for him is pretty simple because if I was down, I would want people to pray for me. If you had lost something that you wanted more than anything, something that you expected because you could see it without seeing it, you would know how I felt in that situation. He hopes his choice to play in the wake of a personal tragedy will serve as an inspiration to others. Goodwin has been around the game for some time, but it's clear his score Sunday will always be one of the most meaningful moments of his career.
According to NBC Sports, Goodwin left the locker room quickly after the game to be with his family.
"Never stop believing", he said.
"I just wanna thank those who've genuinely prayed for @morganakamomo & myself throughout this pregnancy".При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
