While speaking at 5th Global Conference on Cyberspace in New Delhi, He said all nations must take responsibility to ensure that the digital space does not become a playground for the dark forces of terrorism and radicalisation. "We need to ensure that vulnerable sections of the society do not fall prey to cyber criminals", he said, calling for constant alertness to become a way of life.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said cyber protection must become a reliable career option for youth.

At his inaugural address Mr. Modi recalled the speedy evolution of cyber space from the bulky mainframe computers to hand-held smartphones and gadgets of today.

Sri Lankan prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, who was also present at the event, said there was no legal framework on cyberspace and he hopes that the conference leads to a consensus to finalize the terms of the framework.

"Digital technology is a great enabler". He further said that financial inclusion through Jan Dhan Yojna, unique identification through Aadhaar and mobile phones have helped reduce corruption and bring in transparency in the country. "Technology breaks silos. Sitting in our respective offices aided by the cyber world we discuss and resolve important governance issues", he said.
