SVU Planning Harvey Weinstein Scandal Episode in Season 19

Law & Order: SVU will take on Hollywood's sexual harassment scandal in an episode slated to air in 2018.

"We are hitting Harvey Weinstein head-on, but it's not in the realm of the entertainment business", executive producer Michael Chernuchin tells EW exclusively.

A presidente da Corte, ministra Cármen Lúcia, decidirá quando pautar o assunto. Eles já se entregaram na sede da Polícia Federal.

Law & Order: SVU also was planning an episode inspired by Donald Trump for last season, but it never aired.

Weinstein, of course, has been accused of sexual assault and harassment by several women in the entertainment industry, many of whom spoke about his alleged behavior in New Yorker and New York Times stories in October. Weinstein was subsequently fired by The Weinstein Company, and the revelations started a snowball effect of allegations against other high profile Hollywood figures, including Kevin Spacey, James Toback, and Brett Ratner, among many others. The series' writers were working on the story when the Weinstein news broke. "We were actually working on a story about airline pilots and what a boys club that is", Chernuchin says. "It's the same environment.' So we got all of our Harvey stuff out with airline pilots".

A producer from Law & Order: Special Victims Unit has revealed that the show will explore the circumstances that fed into such a cycle of victimization and sexual violence through the lens of another national powerhouse: the airline industry.

Sounds like we're in for a bumpy flight when the episode airs next year.
