The network also announced that Jimmy will be taking time off to spend with his family and 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' will be hosted by a series of celebrity guests this week.

Molly McNearney said her husband told her that he wanted to talk about their son, who was born with two heart defects and underwent nearly immediate open-heart surgery, on "Jimmy Kimmel Live".

The baby, Billy Kimmel, had been scheduled to have the surgery in October, but it was postponed because of household colds. The 50-year-old live host first opened up about his son's trying health condition during an opening monologue on his May 1st episode. Jimmy had said to her: "I just want you to watch."So, there I am, in my living room breastfeeding Billy with my mom beside me, and we're watching", she continued. I figured he'd tell the story and then he'd probably cry because, well, he once cried on the show over a lion dying", she recounted to THR".

"Even though I was on maternity leave, I was still getting all of my work emails, and I didn't get one with the monologue for that night", McNearney writes.

She said that she can not wait to tell Billy about the impact that he has had on others and how he has received letters from former presidents wishing him well.
