Queen biopic, "Bohemian Rhapsody", gets new director

Dexter Fletcher has replaced Bryan Singer on the Queen biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody". A Hollywood Reporter story alleges that on-set "chaos" led to the termination, which Singer denies.

Filming is scheduled to resume next week in London.

Singer was sacked Monday for what a source close to 20th Century Fox told ABC News was a pattern of unreliable behavior on the set.

The Eddie The Eagle director will replace Singer, who said his services had been "terminated".

Funnily enough, Singer's replacement - Dexter Fletcher - was originally involved in the biopic back when Ben Whishaw was to play Mercury instead of Mr. Robot's Rami Malek.

However, there's some question of whether or not Dexter will be able to add "Bohemian Rhapsody" to his growing list of film credits, given that Bryan Singer had all but completed principal photography on what he described as his "passion project" when his contract with Fox was unexpectedly terminated.

Singer reportedly regularly failed to arrive on set, leaving cinematographer Thomas Newton to fill his shoes.

After his firing, Singer said he was let go after the studio declined to give him time off to deal with an ailing parent. "While, at times, we did have creative differences on set, Rami and I successfully put those differences behind us and continued to work on the film together until just prior to Thanksgiving".

But as Variety reports, a source claims Tom Hollander, who portrays Queen band manager Jim Beach, walked away as well because of Singer's behavior, but was convinced to return.
