International Day of Persons with Disabilities at AIISH tomorrow

All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), Mysuru, is celebrating "The International Day of Persons with Disabilities" on Dec.8 at 5 pm with the theme "Transformation towards sustainable and resilient society for all". The award was given for their outstanding achievements and work done towards empowerment of persons with disabilities under different categories. General public may also take part. Parents, caregivers, clients and activists who have contributed either at an individual level or at an organisational level to bring about change in the lives of persons with disabilities will be felicitated.

The UN representative further said 87% of Namibian children with disabilities who are between the ages of 0-4 years have never attended early childhood development (ECD) programmes, while the unemployment rate of disabled persons is 39%, compared to the national rate of 28%.
