At The Game Awards 2017, THQ Nordic took the stage to debut the trailer for the recently-announced Fade to Silence. Players have to survive against the elements while battling monstrous enemies. Fade to Silence casts you into the role of a defined character, Ash, who is described as "a natural but tormented leader", implying that there is an overarching story. It will arrive on Steam Early Access on December 14. "In that role you explore a post-apocalyptic, frozen wasteland to gather the resources necessary to establish a refuge for survival", the description reads. With dwindling resources, simple tasks like upgrading equipment and collecting materials quickly require an expedition to scavenge the necessary items.

"Players will continually struggle to navigate dynamic, accumulating snow, real-time snow trails, and completely immersive weather effects such as blizzards", said Black Forest Games exec Adrian Goersch. It's described as "a more personal game-experience than a survival game", according to THQ Nordic and developer Black Forest Games.
