The North Korean ambassador to the UN, Ja Song Nam, described the security council session as "a desperate measure plotted by the USA being terrified by the incredible might of our Republic that has successfully achieved the great historic cause of completing the state nuclear force".

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said on Tuesday that the United States is ready to sit at the negotiating table with North Korea "without preconditions".
