Former WCW Star Tom Zenk has passed away

Former WWE and WCW star Tom Zenk unfortunately passed away on Saturday, December 9 at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, Minnesota at the age of 59.

1Wrestling's Bill Apter revealed the news on a video blog that he posted Sunday afternoon. The information appeared in an obituary in Minnesota with little information attached.

As part of the Can-Am Connection, Zenk and partner Rick Martel were once planned for a WWE tag team championship run.

Sean Walkman, who wrestled for both WWE and WCW tweeted: "Tom Zenk was the last surviving member of Robbinsdale HS's Class of '76. which included Curt Hennig, Rick Rude, & Dean Peters (Brady Boone)". For the next year or so, Zenk worked for All Japan Pro Wrestling. During a five year run, Zenk became a World Television Champion, but racked up accolades in tag team action.

Zenk also won the WCW World Six-Man Tag Team Championship with Dusti Rhodes and Big Josh (later known as Matt Bourne/ The Original Doink The Clown) in 1991.

After his May 1994 WCW release, Zenk returned to All Japan Pro Wrestling.
