An elderly couple arrested last month after police said they claimed they had more than 60 pounds of marijuana in their auto to give out as Christmas gifts is facing new charges after being arrested Tuesday morning in Nebraska, according to multiple reports.

A drug-detection dog indicated it smelled drugs in the truck, so deputies searched the vehicle and found most of the money in a duffel bag in the cargo area, the report said.

"It's my understanding that they were stopped, in the same vehicle we caught them in (a Toyota Tacoma), again on Interstate 80", Lt. Vrbka said. At the time, they told police they were on their way to Vermont to distribute the drugs to friends and family as Christmas presents.

The couple's son, JustinJjiron, is a criminal prosecutor in the state of Vermont. A K9 detected marijuana, but deputies found no drugs.
