Star Wars: The Last Jedi might have received overwhelmingly positive reviews when it premiered in December a year ago, however, Lucasfilm's newest sequel trilogy installment received a punch from the Star Wars fanbase with an alarming 57 percent audience score from 83,000 audience reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes. "I introduced him to Daisy Ridley at the 'SNL" after-party, it was the first time they had met.

Arguably the biggest takeaway from Ridley's quote is that neither Rey nor Poe are yearning for a romantic subplot to make them whole - Lucasfilm's current crop of characters is already pretty nuanced and complex without the need to employ impassioned love stories. So, I think, hopefully, if Rey and Poe get to have some scenes together and stuff that there will be intimacy, but I think, for me, it doesn't have to be romantic. Romantic relationships aren't a requirement for all films and sometimes it is more beneficial not to have one. So it will be great to finally see those two characters interact but that doesn't necessarily have to be in a romantic way, even though The Last Jedi seemed to plant that seed of possibility.
If there was one thing that The Last Jedi had going for it, it was that it set up a lot. It's the lowest audience score ever received by a Star Wars film, much lower than the 57% score of Attack of the Clones. He could have just easily made it up in order to sway Rey's moral compass and have her join the dark side. After all, Luke lived that bachelor life (we think) and never had romance in the original trilogy.
