Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, General Motors and Mercedes have all been accused of diesel emissions cheating, although the rash of allegations began with the case against Volkswagen.
Ford is alleged to have rigged its heavy-duty trucks to beat emissions tests, according to a a lawsuit from a legal firm representing United States drivers.

That case, which was uncovered by researchers at West Virginia University in 2014, led to the convictions of two former VW employees and charges against several other VW officials, and billions of dollars in criminal and civil settlements by the German automaker.
Reuters is reporting that Ford considers the accusation to be false, stating there are no defeat devices in its Power Stroke diesel engines. The complaint details allegations that Ford and Bosch crafted software that treats real-world applications differently than tests conducted by both the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB).

Ford is pushing back against the claims.
Ford also advertised the trucks as the "cleanest Super Diesel ever", and also added, "proven technology and innovative Ford strategies to meet the latest federal emissions standards". The suit further says that the diesel Super Duty trucks cost $8,400 more than their gasoline counterparts. How much more? According to a report from the Detroit Free Press, the suit alleges 500,000 Super Duty trucks manufactured from 2011 through 2017 can emit up to 50 times more pollutants than allowed. Bosch is cooperating with the continuing investigations in various jurisdictions, and is defending its interests in the litigation.
