However, News Corp reports a leaked document suggests the decision to remove gender and height from the licences came after complaints that collecting the information may be discriminatory.
Further personal information including eye and hair colour is also being scrubbed from records attached to licences because it may be "perceived as discriminatory", the document reveals.

"TMR has received complaints and suggestions from members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex community about displaying gender/sex (M or F) on TMR cards", the document states.
In the new format, eye colour, hair colour and height will also be removed from Queensland licenses, however personal information would still be collected and provided to police if required.
