The Sedgwick County Jail shows he's booked on a warrant for involuntary manslaughter, giving a false alarm and interference with a law enforcement officer. A fugitive-from-justice warrant filed by Los Angeles County prosecutors says Barriss was charged in Kansas on December 29 with the felony of making a false alarm. His bond has been set to $500,000 for involuntary manslaughter.

Kansas officials took custody of Barriss in Los Angeles Thursday morning and he was flown to Wichita for his first court appearance in Sedgwick County.

Barriss was arrested in a Los Angeles transitional recovery center, law enforcement sources told NBC. Just one week before the deadly Wichita call, Barriss reportedly called in a false threat at a Calgary woman's apartment. When Wichita police responded, a man, later identified as Andy Finch, 28, emerged from the front door and was fatally shot by an officer. Officers said Finch was ordered to raise his hands but moved them to his waist.

Bennett could not immediately say why Finch's address became the target of the hoax call. "He doesn't play video games", Finch said.
