12 de enero de 2018, 11:55Singapur, Jan 12 (Prensa Latina) Singapur Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong, affirmed today that the Association of South East Asian Nations (Asean) benefits all the countries of this región.
Veera Sekaran, founder of urban greenery firm Greenology, said working with children with special needs has "really changed their lives quite a bit, and actually improved our lives as well".
PM Lee pledged that Singapore "will do our best to take the group forward", in line with the chairmanship themes of resilience and innovation.
Asean's economic community has opened up many job and business opportunities, he said. Asean was established in August, 1967, in Bangkok by five countries: Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapur and Thailand. In 1984, Brunei was admitted as sixth member and later on, Vietnam (1995), Laos and Myanmar (1997) and Cambodia (1999).
President Trump denies using expletive to describe African countries
Nonetheless, Mr Trump vigorously defended his stance on immigration, insisting that he wanted a merit-based system of immigration. But Democrats were not the only ones objected. "I think Trump is a good president for me", Mario Gonzalez, from Cuba, said.
His speech was made available on the website of Singapore Prime Minister's Office late Friday.
The three-day Experience Asean festival at Ficus Green in Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park aims to bring Asean closer to Singaporeans through performances and food from around the region.
It has over 30 food stalls, including those set up by Asean members states' embassies and High Commissions.
Among members of the public who turned up on Friday were administrative executive Mok Chingny, 36, who was with her six-year-old son.
Buemi storms to Marrakech pole
Putting his performance in perspective, team-mate and regular Dragon driver Jerome d'Ambrosio could only qualify 16th. Enjoying similar good fortune was front-row starter Bird, who may not have made Super Pole at all.
Mr Jonathan Chen from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' (MFA) Asean directorate said: "Asean is about its people and its rich diversity".
There was also an exhibition to honour inspiring individuals who have helped to build a more inclusive society.
Co-organised by Mediacorp, the event also featured activities like a fashion show put together by a team that included people with disabilities and cancer survivors.
Philippine ambassador Joseph Del Mar Yap also told The Straits Times: "After our successful chairmanship of Asean past year, we are relieved at being able to pass on the baton to Singapore, whom we know will do a great job in steering the organisation".
Curry comes back to help out Warriors
These were not the Cavs from Thursday night, an old, slow, disjointed group that threw in the towel shortly after the opening tap. Golden State visits Cleveland on Monday night in a rematch of last year's National Basketball Association final.
The last time Singapore chaired Asean was in 2007.
