The movements of Hamas and the Islamic Jihad will not be taking part in a meeting of the central council of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) to be held in Ramallah on Sunday.

The Gaza-based Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist groups have decided not to send representatives to a meeting on US President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad also said that it would not be sending representatives to attend the meeting.

Palestinian sources said the council will also discuss the internal Palestinian reconciliation between Hamas and President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah Party, as well as Palestinian strategies toward USA and Israel policies over Jerusalem.

The Central Council, the second highest Palestinian legislative authority after the PNC, is expected to open its meeting on Sunday in Ramallah to discuss adopting a new Palestinian strategy following the U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
