Parents of children with allergies are calling for a boycott of the new Peter Rabbit film claiming it could encourage assault and bullying

The charity Kids with Food Allergies condemned the film on social media, prompting some Twitter users to adopt the hashtag #boycottpeterrabbit.

There's apparently a sequence in the film - and we've not seen Peter Rabbit yet - where a character has a blackberry allergy, and they're seen being pelted by blackberries on objective.

In the movie, bunnies pelt a man with blackberries, knowing he is allergic to them.

The CGI film adapts Beatrix Potter's popular book, centering it around a conflict between Peter Rabbit (James Corden) and Mr. McGregor's nephew Tom (Domhnall Gleeson).

Winter Olympics: Mikael Kingsbury wins moguls gold for Canada
Canadian Mikael Kingsbury has won the gold medal in men's freestyle ski moguls at the Pyeongchang Olympics in South Korea. Vinjar Slatten was second up, but the Norweigian ruled himself out of contention after over-rotating on his first jump.

In "Peter Rabbit" which was released this weekend, the character of Mr. McGregor is allergic to blackberries.

"A character is intentionally attacked with his allergen, leading to anaphylaxis and the use of epinephrine [medication reversing allergy reactions]". Maybe you think about how the parents who scoffed at your comments about school lunches are going to take their child to see it.

The group said that allergy jokes are harmful to their community and that making light of the condition "encourages the public not to take the risk of allergic reactions seriously".

"To include a scene in a children's film that includes a serious allergic reaction and not to do it responsibly is unacceptable, as is bullying", CEO Carla Jones said.
