Saints Row, Dead Island and Metro publisher Koch Media acquired by THQ Nordic

In a move that's ever-so-slightly reminiscent of that scene in a horror movie where the monster picks up the arm that the heroes just lopped off and reattaches it, THQ Nordic have bought up Koch Media, who are often better known by their publishing label Deep Silver.

THQ Nordic, the Austria-based company now in possession of the Darksiders, Red Faction, and de Blob properties, has acquired Koch Media, the parent company of Dead Island, Saints Row, and Metro publisher Deep Silver.

There are now no plans to shake things up at Koch, with THQ ruling out any "restructuring or cost saving programmes".

The purchase covers the entire Koch Media business, including Deep Silver and Dambuster Studios.

Koch CEO Dr. Klemens Kundratitz added, "I strongly believe that THQ Nordic is a great strategic fit with Koch Media".

Koch Media itself runs Deep Silver (Dead Island and Metro publisher), Volition (Saints Row developer) and Dambuster Studios (Homefront: The Revolution developer), all of which will come under the THQ Nordic umbrella.

New Mercedes-AMG G63 REVEALED - Range-topping G-Class is a monster
It's possible that hybrid G-Class models could arrive further down the line, but a fully electric version is very unlikely. You might be reading this and asking yourself, why? But the question is: "How much does the new Mercedes-AMG G63 Cost?".

As a result of this deal, THQ Nordic now own all of Deep Silver's studios and games, as well as the exclusive rights to the Metro games, which 4A develop.

THQ Nordic says it'll "closely monitor and delegate resources... in order to ensure quality and a healthy return to investment on [Koch's] large in-house development projects". It has since published over 200 games, notably the Saints Row, Metro and Dead Island franchises.

The deal means that franchises separated by the death of THQ - such as Darksiders and Red Faction - are now all under the same banner once more.
