Virginia's DeAndre Hunter to Miss NCAA Tournament After Suffering Wrist Injury

Virginia forward De'Andre Hunter will miss the NCAA Tournament with a broken wrist, the school announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Hunter injured the wrist in the ACC Tournament. A recovery timeline now projects Hunter will be healthy in 10-12 weeks.

Virginia won't have much time to figure out how to play without Hunter as the Cavaliers open NCAA tournament play on Friday night against 16th-seeded UMBC.

Hunter, whose banked-in, buzzer-beating 3-pointer at Louisville might be the single most memorable play of the Cavaliers' magic season to date, averaged 9.2 points and 3.5 rebounds in 33 games and was also named to the ACC's all-rookie team. His scoring high was 23 points in his fourth game, a 73-53 victory over Monmouth on November 19.
