Schalke beat rival Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the Ruhr derby on Sunday to consolidate second place in the Bundesliga and take a giant step toward guaranteeing a Champions League spot.
Schalke were victorious in Sunday's Bundesliga Revierderby at the Veltins-Arena, with the hosts winning 2-0.
Second-half goals from Evgen Konoplyanka (50) and Naldo (82) handed Schalke their 16 win of the league season which sees them 20 points behind leaders Bayern Munich. A one-two allowed the Dortmund players to quickly close down the ball, but it was no use given the speed and accuracy of Naldo's sensational strike, his seventh league goal of the season.
